OUT OF ACTION
Mario Gomez has been out of action since Fiorentina’s match against Napoli which was played a few weeks ago in March. The German striker is expected to make it in time for the Italian Cup match that Fiorentina has scheduled to play against the team of Rafael Benitez on May 3.
Along with Gomez, Fiorentina also has to cope with the absence of Giuseppe Rossi as the Italian forward continues suffering fitness problems on his right knee.
According to the medical director of Fiorentina, Paolo Manetti he revealed that the injured players are taking on a recovery regimen which should allow Rossi and Gomez on recovering in time for the Italian Cup match against Napoli.
The doctor adds, “The goal is for Rossi and Gomez to return to a competitive level before the Cup final.”
Gomez is working to get his way back fit and available not only for Fiorentina but for Germany as the 2014 World Cup is just around the corner. The Bayern Munich player has been representing his country since his childhood at the age of 17 as he made his debut for the German national team back in 2007.
He later went on playing on the senior international scene as he was called up by Joachim Low to play at the 2008 Euro and 2 years later for the 2010 World Cup and the German forward is hoping he can perform once more for his country.
Since Gomez made his move to Fiorentina on July of 2013, he has been limited to only a few appearances for the Italian club and before his career reaches its end, he wants to play and represent Germany as he is getting into the last few years of his professional competitive playing career especially considering all of the young rising stars which are emerging.
